MS Dhoni is indisputably the greatest wicketkeeper-batter India has ever had. While Dhoni's excellence in finishing matches with the bat is consistently praised, his exceptional keeping skills are often overlooked. 

Even as India searches for a replacement for Dhoni, the focus tends to be on finding a batsman who can also keep wickets.

During the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), there was a pivotal moment when Dhoni failed to grasp the ball, especially crucial as SRH were chasing at a rate of less than one run per ball. Such a mistake in a critical game could have had substantial consequences.

Dhoni has been facing challenges in this IPL season with his keeping, which has resulted in CSK leaking runs. Dhoni underwent knee surgery last year due to an injury, and after a year of rest, he returned to play in the IPL. 

The absence of Devon Conway in the CSK squad, who is the only international established wicketkeeper besides Dhoni, leaves the 42-year-old with no choice but to continue keeping wickets, even as he navigates through his struggles.

A segment of fans argues that Dhoni's age should be taken into account when assessing his mistakes. Conversely, another group contends that professional competition demands accountability regardless of age, highlighting the critical role of a keeper. 

They point out that Dinesh Karthik, also of the same age, does not receive similar consideration for errors.
