Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) routed the visiting LSG troops at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens in match number 28 of the IPL 2024 season on April 14.

Mitchell Starc led KKR’s bowling charge alongside mystery spinner Sunil Narine to restrict LSG’s famed batting line-up to 161 upfront.

Later in the game, KKR opener Phil Salt made a mockery of LSG’s 161-run total by ensuring his side soared past the finishing line with time to spare.

Here’s the timeline of how KKR vs LSG panned out in Kolkata-

KKR vs LSG Highlights: Rahul, Pooran Hold LSG Together After Early Setbacks

Amidst the early dismissals of LSG opener Quinton de Kock and number three Deepak Hooda, captain KL Rahul punched out 39 off 27 deliveries and formed a handy partnership with Ayush Badoni. Nicholas Pooran also clubbed a 32-ball 45 to top-score in the LSG innings.

While Rahul steered LSG during the first 10 overs, Pooran oversaw the backend with an attacking partnership alongside Krunal Pandya.

KKR vs LSG Highlights: Narine Tightens Up LSG With 17-Run Spell

KKR legend Sunil Narine tightened up LSG’s run-flow in the middle overs by conceding just 17 off his four-over spell. Moreover, the mystery spinner also accounted for the wicket of a well-set Ayush Badoni in the 15th over of the LSG innings.

KKR vs LSG Highlights: Starc Finally Justifies Hefty Price Tag

Legendary Australian paceman Mitchell Starc struck thrice in his four overs, including once with the new-ball to remove LSG number three Deepak Hooda.

The speedster also conceded just six runs off the final six deliveries of the LSG innings and dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan to finish with figures of 3-28.

Starc’s spell, coupled with timely breakthroughs from Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell ensured that LSG were restricted to 161-7 from their 20 overs.

KKR vs LSG Highlights: KKR Makes The Most Of Shamar Joseph’s Wayward Opening Over

Making his IPL debut, opening bowler Shamar Joseph costed 22 runs for LSG in his first over of the game. KKR batters Sunil Narine and Phil Salt made the most of Joseph’s wayward opening over, which featured two wides and two no-balls.

The Guyana-based speedster, however, did managed to make a mark with his pace, even clocking above 150kph at one stage.

KKR vs LSG Highlights: Phil Salt Drives KKR Home With Ease

Following the early dismissals of Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi shortly after Shamar Joseph’s 22-run opening over, Phil Salt launched an all-out assault on the LSG bowlers until the conclusion of the evening.

The Englishman listed 89 unbeaten runs off just 47 deliveries, with 14 boundaries and three sixes to his credit. Salt even took a special liking to debutant Joseph and rising star Yash Thakur, and formed a match-winning 120*-run stand with captain Shreyas Iyer for the third wicket.

His innings ensured KKR romped through to victory with eight wickets and 26 balls still intact in the game.
