Experienced Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane registered a failure in Chennai Super Kings' ongoing IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians, as ace South African pacer Gerald Coetzee got him cheaply. 

Opening the batting alongside Kiwi youngster Rachin Ravindra, Rahane started his innings with a stunning sweep shot off Mohammad Nabi's bowling. However, he couldn't bat long, as Coetzee got the better of him in his first over. 

The incident occurred during the second over of CSK's innings when MI skipper Hardik Pandya brought Coetzee into the attack in pursuit of the opening breakthrough. 

His tactical call proved to be a masterstroke, with the Proteas speedster dismissing the Mumbai batter on his fourth delivery. 

Coetzee started his over with the utmost accuracy, conceding only two runs off his first three balls. 

Seeing his trump card in rhythm, skipper Hardik had a brief chat with him, sharing some valuable tips with him. 

His words worked wonders, as Coetzee surprised Rahane with a pacy body-line delivery, which the batter hit straight to Pandya, who completed a simple catch at mid on. 

However, after Rahane departed, Ruturaj Gaikwad steadied the ship alongside Rachin Ravindra before the latter was dismissed by Shreyas Gopal. 

As of writing, the visitors were firmly placed at 60 for two in 7.5 overs, with Gaikwad and Shivam Dube unbeaten in the middle.
