There has been a lot of hype around Gerald Coetzee in IPL 2024, particularly because of his stupendous campaign in India during the ODI World Cup last year. However, the young South African international is yet to have a contest to remember in the ongoing edition. And the way he was thrashed by CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday made matters even worse.

Coming to bowl the fifth over of CSK's innings, MI speedster was unlucky first time, as Gaikwad's thick inside edge took the ball to the boundary rope. Then, on the next ball, the CSK captain backed away to make some room, and played an audacious upper cut to play over third man for six runs.

After that, a ball later, Coetzee gifted a loopy full-toss to Gaikwad, and he took it with both hands, and played towards the square leg region for four runs.
