Active Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma made his national debut back in 2007 and shot himself to prominence during the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa. Sharma, who shares a great camaraderie with legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh both on and off the field, recently recalled the latter’s mischievous antics from his own early days in Team India.

The Indian skipper recently made an appearance on the ‘Great Indian Kapil Show’ alongside Shreyas Iyer.

In one of the deleted segments of the episode that has since gone viral, Rohit Sharma jokingly revealed that he was scared of “senior teammate” Yuvraj Singh back during his formative years in international cricket.

Sharma revealed that Yuvraj always wanted to “prove a point” in front of newcomers, and cited an example of a hilarious ‘team-bus’ incident for the same.

The opening batter said that during his early stages in the Indian team, he once unknowingly sat on Yuvraj’s spot on the team bus, to which the latter jokingly made eye-contact and instructed him to make way from the seat.

Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh remained national teammates until the latter announced his retirement from international cricket in 2019. The two cricketers also lifted the IPL trophy together for the Mumbai Indians franchise during the 2019 edition of the tournament.

As of now, Rohit Sharma is plying his trade for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 season, which serves as a final dress rehearsal for Indian players prior to this year’s 2024 T20 World Cup.
