Rajasthan Royals crashed to their third defeat in succession, this time at the hands of hosts Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match number 61 of IPL 2024 at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium on May 12.

After Rajasthan Royals struggled their way with the bat upfront, CSK’s batting order, led by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, easily overhauled their task with time and wickets to spare.

After Rajasthan Royals reached 42-0, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad employed fast bowler Simarjeet Singh for the seventh over of the innings. Making instant impact with the ball, the 26-year-old struck off his second delivery of the match by inducing a false stroke from Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Simarjeet also dismissed Jos Buttler in his following over as Rajasthan Royals slipped to 49-2 in a gust of wind.

Riyan Parag, however, smacked three sixes and shared a fiery 40-run stand with Dhruv Jurel to add some respectability to Rajasthan Royals innings amidst their dwindling run-rate. The all-rounder clubbed 47 unbeaten runs from 35 balls to top-score for his side, while Dhruv produced a quickfire 18-ball 28.
