IPL 2024 Could Be Rescheduled To October-November? Here's The Reason Why

Regarded as the most competitive global T20 league in the world, the Indian Premier League has grown leaps and bounds in its stature over the years. The tournament, which began in 2008 just after India's triumphant T20 World Cup campaign, has enthralled the spectators besides acting as a trendsetter and establishing the culture of T20 leagues around the world.

Since its inception, the Indian Premier League has always taken the centerstage during the Indian summer.

After several amendments to the initial format, the showpiece event generally begins in March end and continues until May last week. However, the tournament's 2024 season could see some modifications in its scheduling due to the upcoming Loksabha elections in India.

In a similar scenario, the IPL was shifted from India to South Africa in 2009. However, as per the latest news, the IPL 2024 will be held on the Indian soil, and if it is so, then the BCCI might look for a separate window for it to avoid its collision with the elections.

The Loksabha elections generally tend to be intense, needing tight security to avoid the clash between several political parties. In such a scenario, it will be a massive headache for the BCCI to organise an event as big as IPL.

However, considering the T20 World Cup is scheduled in June, teams would like to participate in a competitive league like IPL just prior to it. So, we shouldn't be surprised if the IPL is moved away from India to another country next year.
