Abhishek Sharma bashed 63 runs from just 23 balls against Mumbai Indians to record the fastest-ever half-century in SRH history. The youngster raced to his 50 in the 16th delivery of his innings, and formed a match-winning 68-run partnership with opening batsman Travis Head in less than four overs, thus setting up SRH’s monumental 277-run total upfront.

Fittingly adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’, Abhishek Sharma reflected his knock and praised Travis Head for encouraging him during their partnership. The young Indian batsman also hailed Brian Lara for assisting him during his pre-match training sessions.

While speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Abhishek Sharma praised opening batsman Travis Head for encouraging him during their attacking partnership at the top of the order.

The youngster expressed his admirations for Head, and claimed that the Australian-based opener asked him to go for the big hits.

“I really admire Head. He just said that if ball is there to hit, just go for it, even if it's your first ball. I think that helped me. It's more that I'm getting a chance and I'm trying to express myself," Abhishek Sharma said in the post-match interview.

Abhishek Sharma further credited SRH batting coach Brian Lara for assisting him during pre-match practice sessions. The 23-year-old added that he has also started bowling a bit in training.

“I think finally I have got a batting order. That's one thing I would say. Also, I had a chance to talk to Brian Lara last night and it helped. If you see me in the practice, you would see that I'm bowling more than I'm batting," he further stated.

Abhishek Sharma and the rest of his SRH teammates will now travel to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium for their subsequent IPL 2024 challenge against Gujarat Titans.

The much-awaited contest between the two sides will be staged on March 31.
