LSG captain KL Rahul dominated the DC bowling lineup earlier today in IPL 2024 as his strike rate hovered over 200. With the T20 World Cup around the corner, fans on Twitter linked Rahul’s aggressive intent to a potential audition for the World Cup slot.

KL Rahul, despite being clearly instructed to drop wicket-keeping duties in the wake of a quadriceps injury, continued to play as a wicket-keeper batter for LSG this IPL 2024 season. 

With a slot for a keeper open in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, Rahul appears to be auditioning for the same this IPL. However, his form with the bat as an opener has been ordinary until today.

As LSG clashed with DC earlier today in an IPL 2024 fixture, KL Rahul batted first to unleash carnage in the powerplay. With an aggressive intent shown for the first time this year, Rahul took Khaleel Ahmed’s class with some splendid textbook shots. His strike rate soared over 200 in no time, and Rahul’s sudden shift of intent caught the fans’ eye on the internet.

Fans on the X platform pointed out how KL Rahul is showing aggressive intent with the T20 World Cup squad selection date on the horizon. He desperately wants in and, therefore, appears to be using IPL as a perfect platform to promote his candidature. 




While the T20 World Cup auditions claim seems a little far-fetched, KL Rahul is surely trying to give a classic start to LSG as an opener. He has been the backbone of the lineup, and his performance is a key contributor to LSG’s success in IPL.
