In a candid conversation with wife Sanjana Ganesan, Indian fast bowling stalwart Jasprit Bumrah revealed he had plans to migrate to Canada before Mumbai Indians scouted him in his early days.

Jasprit Bumrah, the poster boy of Indian cricket, once struggled to break into Gujarat's Ranji Trophy team in his early days. 

If he hadn't been for Mumbai Indians' scouting team, the Gujarat native would have migrated to Canada for better opportunities.

In a recent conversation with wife Sanjana Ganesan, Bumrah confessed of having plans to migrate to Canada before IPL happened. He explained how every kid on the street dreams of playing for India and therefore, due to competition, he felt the need to have a backup plan.

"We have had these conversations before. Every boy wants to make it big and play cricket. Every street has 25 players who want to play for India. You have to have a backup plan," said Bumrah.

The MI stalwart further added that he had extended family residing in Canada and he wanted to move alongside his family after completing his education before his mom pulled out of the plan due to cultural differences. 

"Our relative lives there. I though I will finish my education and...my uncle lives there. First we though we would go as a family, then my mum did not want to go there as it's a different culture," he added.

However, the pacer quipped that even if he had ended up in Canada, the cricketing dream would have drawn him into the Canadian cricket team.

Regardless, Jasprit Bumrah considers himself fortunate that his plans to represent his nation worked out, thus resonating with the feelings of millions of Indian fans who simply adore Bumrah's surreal bowling skills.

"I am very happy and very lucky that things worked out, Otherwise I don't know I would have tried to play for the Canadian team and do something there as well. Glad it worked out here. I am playing for the Indian team and Mumbai Indians," Bumrah concluded.

That being said, Jasprit Bumrah led Mumbai Indians to their second victory of the season on Thursday against RCB by claiming a five-wicket haul, which fetched him his first Player of the Match award of the season and the prestigious purple cap.
