Kohli predominantly batted at No. 4, a position he made his own with over 7,564 Test runs at an average of 50.09, while Rohit Sharma fulfilled the role of opener and occasionally batted at No. 2 or in the middle order.

Sai As Suitable Option To Fill Rohit Sharma's Void

Rohit Sharma has been India’s mainstay opener, scoring 2697 runs at No. 1 with an average of 42.81 in Tests. His ability to provide solid starts and anchor innings has been vital. In the current squad, Sai Sudharsan is the primary candidate to fill the spot alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Notably, Sai Sudharsan has been a consistent performer with the bat in the IPL. He delivered runs steadily at a strike rate of 155.99.

Though his First Class credentials see an average of 39.93 in 29 matches, it is likely that the GT star might find Rohit's place in the team.
