On Saturday, May 24,  Punjab Kings locked horns against Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. It is a dead-rubber match as Kings have already qualified for the playoffs, while Delhi have crashed out of the tournament. Nonetheless, the race to finish in top 2 is still alive and the result of PBKS vs DC match can heavily influence the playoff dynamics. 

How Can PBKS vs DC Match Influence The Playoff Dynamics?

At present, the race for top 2 is still on and Gujarat Titans are placed on top of the table with 18 points in 13 matches. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings are 2nd with 17 points in 12 games and RCB slipped to third with 17 points in 13 games after a crushing defeat against SRH. For the fourth spot, MI have 16 points in 13 matches.

If DC win, then PBKS will have the same result as RCB with 17 points in 13 matches and the Challengers will hope that Delhi hands Punjab a crushing defeat so that their net run-rate drops to lesser than RCB's and the Rajat Patidar-led side jumps back to the 2nd spot.

However, if its a close match, then Punjab will continue to be second on the table. Also, DC's win is great news for GT as they will stay on top of the table, while MI's chances to top the table will also stay alive as they can reach 20 points

Scenarios If PBKS Win vs DC

It is worth noting that if PBKS win against DC, they will move to top of the table with 19 points in 13 games and it will almost confirm their top 2 spot, as RCB who are third on the table, can at max reach 19 points and can only push PBKS to 3rd if the Shreyas Iyer-led side lose against MI and their net run-rate drops lower than RCB.

Further, with PBKS's Win over DC, it will eliminate MI's dream to finish on top of the table as they can at max reach 18 points.
