The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) is set to add two new teams for the 2026 season. Following a record-breaking season, where viewership soared and Bollywood stars added glamour to the tournament, ISPL is set to grow even bigger.
In 2024, the ISPL, a distinctive tennis ball cricket competition in the T10 format, was introduced. The first season was played in March last year with big names such as Sachin Tendulkar, Saif Ali Khan, Ram Charan and Amitabh Bachan owning a team each.
The second season began in January 2025 and is set to enter the playoffs. However, given the tournament’s growing popularity, ISPL authorities have decided to expand the league.
ISPL to add new teams in ISPL 2026 season
The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) is currently played in the T10 format with six teams namely, Bangalore Strikers, Chennai Singams, Falcon Risers Hyderabad, Tigers of Kolkata, Majhi Mumbai and Srinagar ke Veer.
However, for the 2026 season, which will be the league’s third edition, ISPL will add new teams, making it an 8-team event. Though the details of the new teams are yet to be disclosed, the move comes after the first edition of the league, which generated record popularity.
The TV rating apparently jumped by 32% with 15 million views clocked throughout the second season.
For the 2025 ISPL season, the Tigers of Kolkata, the defending champions, have been knocked out in the league stage. Majhi Mumbai and Falcon Risers Hyderabad will play Qualifier 1 whereas Srinagar ke Veer and Bangalore Strikers will compete in the eliminator game.
