In a late blow to the Australian cricket team prior to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, premier fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the tournament. As per a Cricket Australia statement, the speedster felt discomfort on his left ankle while bowling against Sri Lanka during the second innings of the recently-concluded Test match in Galle.
Alyssa Healy, Australian women’s captain and also Mitchell Starc’s wife was recently asked to give her take over the speedster’s sudden omission from the ICC event. The legendary Australian wicketkeeper-batter responded back with a cheeky remark instead.
‘Move on…’ says Alyssa Healy
While talking on the Willowtalk podcast, Australian women’s captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy was asked to give her take over the absence of Mitchell Starc from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Healy cheekily remarked that she is unaware of the situation, before indirectly implying that the cricketer just needs some rest after months of non-stop action. She said:
“He’s fine everyone. I am fine more importantly. Yeah, we are fine, Move On.”
Mitchell Starc just played seven Tests in a row for Australia, which included five at home against India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. After he was ruled out of Australia’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad, Cricket Australia named Spencer Johnson as his like-for-like replacement in the team.
Notably, Alyssa Healy will also be missing the upcoming WPL 2025 season in India in a bid to attain full recovery from the injury she sustained during the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE last year.
