The Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) is back with its second season, that will take place at Thane’s Dadoji Kondadev Stadium. The tennis-ball T10 league has introduced a thrilling mix of high-octane action and street-style cricket rules and traditions.

With six teams battling it out in a double round-robin format, ISPL 2.0 guarantees edge-of-the-seat excitement. But what truly sets this league apart are its innovative, street-inspired rules that bring a fresh twist to the game. So in this article, let's take a look at the innovative and impressive rules for ISPL 2025.

Tip-Top Toss

The first and foremost extraordinary rule is the 'Toss Rule'.  In ISPL 2025, captains engage in a heel-to-toe walking duel, with the first to step on the other’s foot wins the toss. This classic street cricket tradition replaces luck with skill right from the start.

Tape Ball Over

The second unique rule is the tape-ball over. It is important to mention that every team must bowl at least one over and up to two using a Tape Ball. This rule is used to improvise tennis ball wrapped tightly with tape to create extra bounce and pace. These can be strategically bowled in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 9th over for maximum impact.

50-50 Over Rule

In this rule, the batting team can set a target for a specific over, if they surpass it, they earn bonus runs. But if they fail, the fielding side gains an advantage for it.

9 Street Runs

In ISPL, if a batter smashes the ball beyond the fence and into the audience, it’s not six but nine runs. This is definitely a game-changing street-style rule that can make add an extra layer of entertainment.

Power Play Tweaks

Each inning will features three power-play overs in the match-

  • First two overs: Mandatory bowling power play (only two fielders outside the 30-yard circle).
  • One batting power play: Taken between overs 6-8, where only three fielders can stay outside the circle.

Playing XI & Substitutions

  • Teams must include players from five different zones and at least one U-19 player.
  • Two substitutions per team allowed. Injured players can be replaced by unsold players from the same zone.
