India is set to begin its home season with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh scheduled on September 19, followed by a three-Test series against New Zealand in October.

Before this series, key Indian players are expected to participate in the Duleep Trophy, which kicks off on September 5.

According to a report by Indian Express, the BCCI's selection committee will reportedly include Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer in the Duleep Trophy as part of an effort to reintegrate them into red-ball cricket.

This move comes after Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were dropped from the BCCI's annual contract list due to their failure to participate in the Ranji Trophy last season, despite being asked to do so by the selection committee.

Shreyas Iyer, despite playing two Ranji Trophy games, was still removed from the contract list, though he has since made his return to the national team during the recent ODI series in Sri Lanka.

The reports further added that the committee is likely to name other prominent players, such as Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav.

They also need to make themselves available for the tournament, which will be played in a new format this season.

Star players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also expected to play Duleep Trophy as part of their preparation for the Bangladesh Test series.

However, Jasprit Bumrah, India's premier fast bowler, is expected to continue his rest period. Mohammed Shami, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since the ODI World Cup last year, is nearing a return and could be in contention for the Bangladesh series.
