Two promising talents from the Women's Premier League, Asha Sobhana and Sajana Sajeevan, have received their maiden calls to the Indian women's T20I team for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

However, the absence of Jemimah Rodrigues from the squad comes as a surprise as she was one of the performers of Delhi Capitals who became the runners up of the tournament.

Asha Sobhana and Sajana Sajeevan are both from Kerala. Asha did really well in the Women's Premier League, taking 12 wickets. She's the second-best wicket-taker in the league, just behind Shreyanka Patil who plays with Asha at RCB and took 13 wickets.

Sajana Sajeevan made a mark as Mumbai Indian's finisher. Her standout moment came when she smashed a six off the last ball against Delhi Capitals, announcing her presence with a bang.

India squad announced for Bangladesh tour

Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to lead the Indian team against Bangladesh, with Smriti Mandhana, the winning captain of the Women's Premier League, serving as her deputy.

India is scheduled to play a five-match series in Bangladesh starting from April 28 and concluding on May 9. The series holds significant importance as it serves as preparation for the T20 World Cup, scheduled for September in Bangladesh.

All matches will be held at Sylhet, with the majority being night games. Out of the five matches, except for the 3rd and 4th T20s, all games will be played under the lights.
