In a significant development, India's upcoming tour of Bangladesh has officially been rescheduled. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development through an official post on its X (formerly Twitter) handle.
BCCI, BCB Mutually Reschedule India-Bangladesh White-Ball Series
India's much-anticipated Bangladesh tour was in jeopardy amid the ongoing geopolitical tension in the neighbouring country. Earlier reports suggested that both boards were mulling over a potential postponement of the series, with doubts looming over its success.
This afternoon, the BCCI released an official statement, confirming the rescheduling of the tour in September next year. The Indian cricketing body also stated that the revised dates and fixtures would be revealed in due course.
"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026," the BCCI statement read.
"This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams," it added.
India Tour Of Bangladesh: What Was The Original Schedule?
India were supposed to take on Bangladesh in three ODIs and as many T20Is in a much-anticipated six-match white-ball tour. The iconic Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka and Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram were expected to host these six games on a rotational basis.
The first two ODIs and the final two T20Is were scheduled to be held in Dhaka, while Chattogram had to host the remaining two games, including an ODI and a T20I. All matches were planned between August 17th and 31st, as the Indian team was slated to travel to the neighbouring nation after the conclusion of the ongoing England Tests.
