After an embarrassment against New Zealand in the first Test at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India are looking to turn things around and win the remaining two games.

The caravan now moves onto Pune, where the two teams would lock horns at the MCA Stadium. Ahead of the much-awaited clash, reports are coming that the hosts have asked for a slow turner strip for the second Test.

Pune Pitch To Be A Slow Turner

According to a report from Cricinfo, A bald and slow-turning pitch is in the making. The tracks at the MCA stadium are prepared with black soil unlike Mumbai, thus the ball will come slowly and late onto the bat in Pune. It will have a lower bounce compared to the first Test in Bengaluru and will be flatter and slower.

The report added that the message is clear that the pitch should assist the spinners, which wasn't particularly the case in Bengaluru because of the overcast conditions due to persistent rains.

India Add Washington Sundar To The Squad

Another move by the Indian team that hinted at their plans to create a slow-turner track for the upcoming game was the inclusion of Washington Sundar to the squad. It is worth noting that after the defeat in the series opener, BCCI announced calling up Sundar to the squad for the remaining Tests.

The seamers will not get any assistance at the MCA stadium. Thus, India are likely to go ahead with three spinners and fans can expect Sundar to make it to the playing XI.
