India, SL In Same U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025 Group; Tournament Begins On January 18

India and Sri Lanka, who recently met in the Asia Cup final, are pooled into the same group for the upcoming Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in Malaysia. The hosts, too, will be with two of Asia's strongest cricket nations, and to complete the grouping, the West Indies will enter the force.

As many as 16 teams will take part in the competition, which will begin on January 18. It will be a 15-day tournament, with the final taking place on February 2. In addition, there will be 16 warm-up matches as well, between January 13 and January 16.

U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 Groups

Group A - India (A1), West Indies (A2), Sri Lanka (A3) and Malaysia (A4)

Group B - England (B1), Pakistan (B2), Ireland (B3) and USA (B4)

Group C - New Zealand (C1), South Africa (C2), Africa’s Qualifier (C3) and Samoa (C4)

Group D - Australia (D1), Bangladesh (D2), Asia’s Qualifier (D3) and Scotland (D4)

"We are delighted to announce the schedule for the second edition of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup and bringing an ICC event of this stature to Malaysia for the first time since the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2008," ICC CEO, Geoff Allardice said in a statement.

“This is a special event to the ICC and forms an important part of our Global Growth Strategy of raising the profile of women’s cricket and further growing the game around the world."

What Happened In The Inagural U19 Women’s T20 World Cup?

India, led by Shafali Verma, won the inagural Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup last year in South Africa. They defeated England comprehensively by seven wickets in the final to enter their names in the history books.

Among other things, this will be a historic tournament for a country like Samoa, who are placed in Group C, and will play their first-ever World Cup tournament.
