India Under-19 Women clinched the title with seven wickets remaining and six overs to spare as they chased with ease after halting their opponents down to just 68.

Outstanding fielding and tight bowling strangleholds England

Asked to bat first, England were dealt with an early blow as opener Liberty Heap departed without any contribution in the very first over. Soon after she left, others followed the suit as wickets kept tumbling with them being reduced to 22/4 as Titas Sadhu and Archana Devi bagged two each.

Ryana Macdonald Gay tried holding one end but was unsuccessful as she was dismissed for 19. Meanwhile, they were unable to recover from early hiccups and as their score suggested they were eight down for 58.

Thanks to some brilliant fielding efforts from Devi and Soumya Tiwari, they could never really get themselves back into the game. By the end of 17.1 overs, they were bowled out for a paltry 68 with Parshavi Chopra bagging two as well and resting contributing with one each.

India achieved the dream with an effortless batting effort

Chasing 69 for victory, Girls in Blue had a decent start as they brought up 16 runs in the first two overs. However, skipper Shafali Verma lost her wicket in the third over to Hannah Baker and not without much delay, her opening partner Shweta Sehrawat was dismissed too with the scoreboard showing 20 runs for two wickets in 3.4 overs.

But it was the duo of Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha who were calm with bat holding their fort taking India close to the finish line before the latter departed with just three required.

But it was nothing to worry about as Tiwari did the final job to score the winning runs taking India to the first-ever Under-19 Women's World Cup title.
