In a significant development, six renowned international players- Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mitchell Marsh, Sunil Narine, Saqib Mahmood and Michael Bracewell- will miss the upcoming Hundred tournament due to several reasons. While Cricket Australia has withdrawn Maxwell and Marsh from the competition, Narine and Hasaranga have pulled out of the tournament to participate in the Caribbean Premier League and Lanka Premier League, respectively. Meanwhile, Mahmood and Bracewell are ruled out owing to a stress fracture and and an Achilles injury.

Maxwell and Marsh, set to represent London Spirit, are replaced by Matthew Wade and Daryl Mitchell. Notably, Wade, a swashbuckling keeper-batter played for Birmingham Phoenix last season.

Meanwhile, the collision of The Hundred and CPL schedule has resulted in a significant loss for Oval Invincibles, who will miss their ace spinner Sunil Narine. Veteran Australian spinner Adam Zampa, who featured in four matches for Welsh Fire last year, replaces the Caribbean legend. The Invincibles have also roped in Tom Lawes as an injury replacement for Saqib Mahmood.

On the other hand, Manchester Originals, who blew hot and cold last season, have replaced Hasaranga with promising Pakistani spinner Usama Mir. At the same time, Punjab Kings' Matthew Short has joined Northern Superchargers as a cover for New Zealand all-rounder, Michael Bracewell.

The Hundred 2023 begins on August 1, with Southern Brave taking on Trent Rockets in the tournament opener at the iconic Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
