In a significant development, India have revealed a robust 16-member squad for the Women's team's upcoming tour of Australia. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the team is an amalgamation of experience and youth.

As expected, the Indian Women's team will be captained by Harmanpreet Kaur in the three-match ODI series against their Australian counterparts. However, the visitors have made significant changes to their ODI squad from the New Zealand series, dropping several big names, including Shafali Verma and Shreyanka Patil.

Shafali Verma Dropped For Poor Returns In ODIs

Prominent opening batter Shafali Verma has been dropped from the India Women's squad for Australia ODIs owing to her recent poor form in the format. The batter has struggled with form for quite a while, having hit her final ODI fifty back in 2022. More importantly, Verma has amassed only 108 runs in six ODIs this year, leading to her axing from India Women's 50-over plans.

The selectors have also dropped Shreyanka Patil, Uma Chetry and Dayalan Hemalatha, who were all part of the squad that recently took on New Zealand in the home series. Meanwhile, Harleen Deol, Richa Ghosh, Minnu Mani, Titas Sadhu and Priya Punia have been recalled and are all set to represent the ODI team in Australia.

India's batting will pretty much revolve around captain Harman and her deputy Smriti Mandhana. While Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh are expected to shoulder the middle order, the likes of Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, Arundhati Reddy and Renuka Singh Thakur will play key roles for the visiting team.
