In a significant development, Karnataka have re-signed India cricketer Karun Nair for the 2025–26 domestic cricket season. After spending two seasons playing for Vidarbha, Nair has chosen to return for personal reasons as reported by Cricbuzz. His comeback is seen as a big boost for Karnataka as they gear up for a fresh start this season.

The 33-year-old batter recently made his way back into India’s Test team after nearly eight years. His selection was based on strong performances for Vidarbha, including 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy and 779 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He even helped Vidarbha win the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy, scoring four centuries and two fifties.

Despite his return to international cricket, Karun hasn’t been at his best in the current Test series against England, with scores like 20, 31, 26, 40, and 14. With India trailing 1-2 in the series, there’s a chance he might be replaced in the next match.

However, Karnataka is happy to have him back, and he’s expected to play a key role in their batting lineup this season.

Vasuki Koushik Leaves for Goa Ahead of New Season

While Karnataka celebrates Karun Nair’s return, they are also saying goodbye to one of their top bowlers, Vasuki Koushik. The 32-year-old fast bowler has officially transferred to Goa for the upcoming domestic season.

He got the necessary No Objection Certificate (NoC) from Karnataka and will now lead Goa’s pace attack, likely partnering with Arjun Tendulkar (son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar).

Goa Cricket Association (GCA) confirmed the signing and mentioned that they are considering a few more professional players. GCA secretary Shambha Desai said told Cricbuzz,“So far, Koushik is the only confirmed transfer.”

Goa had a solid season last year, winning the Ranji Trophy Plate Group, and are looking to strengthen their team for even better results this time.
