India Win Ground-Breaking Match At Lord’s
The third match of the seven-match T20I series between England and India men’s disability teams was hosted by the iconic Lord’s in London on June 25. Notably, the day is also celebrated as the ‘World Mixed Disability Day’.
Ian Martin, the head of Disability Cricket in the ECB, described the match as a historic occasion and a “huge” milestone for the game.
Apart from sharing the date with ‘World Mixed Disability Day’, the date also coincided with 42nd anniversary of Team India winning the 1983 World Cup at Lord’s, doing so under the leadership of Kapil Dev.
After defeating hosts by two wickets in the third T20I, India Men’s Mixed Disability team captain Ravindra Sante dedicated the win to Kapil Dev’s 1983-World Cup winning side.
As it happened, England Men’s Mixed Disability team batted first and scored 123-9, with Angus Brown himself cracking 77 of those runs from just 47 balls with five fours and five huge sixes. For India, Vivek Kumar and Ravindra Sante picked up three wickets each in the innings.
In response, Sai Akash engineered India’s run-chase with a calculated 44 as the visitors won the match by two wickets and five balls to spare.
