In the latest update, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that the India-Afghanistan series will take place ahead of the 50-over World Cup later this year.

India was slated to host Afghanistan for three One-day internationals between June 20-30, but due to an overly packed schedule of the Men in Blue, there were speculations that the series may be called off.

However, on Saturday, Shah confirmed to the media that the three-match rubber will take place this year, with the series set to be pushed back till September.

"We will go ahead with the series this year before the World Cup.”

India will tour the Caribbean Islands for a full series consisting of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is between July-August.

They will then participate in the Asia Cup (if it goes ahead) before hosting Australia for a three-match ODI series prior to the marquee event.

The final details of the India-Afghan series will be confirmed once the BCCI officials have a discussion with their Afghan counterparts on the sidelines of the 2023 IPL final, which will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 28.
