Australian fast-bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott scripted a major heist on Friday night as he smashed the joint-fastest century in the history of the T20 Blast while playing for Surrey against Kent at the Oval.

Abbott, whose previous highest T20 score was just 41, switched on beast mode on Friday night as he pummeled Kent's bowling attack into total submission by smashing 11 sixes in a 34-ball ton.

In the process, the Aussie seamer equaled the Late Great Andrew Symonds' record of scoring the fastest hundred in the tournament's history. Incidentally, Symonds achieved the record while playing for Kent way back in 2004.

Abbott came in to bat at a time when Surrey was struggling at 94/5 in the 13th over, but what happened over the course of the next 7 overs totally changed the complexion of the match.

The right-handed batter smashed 4 fours and 11 monstrous sixes, and along with Jordan Clark (29* off 17), he propelled Surrey to 223/5 in 20 overs.

In response, Kent got off to a great start as openers Tawanda Muyeye (59 off 37) and Daniel Bell-Drummond (52 off 27) went on to add 108 runs inside 10 overs.

However, the dismissal of Bell-Drummond triggered a collapse and Kent went onto lose the game by a huge margin of 41 runs.
