The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to reach its conclusion, with four-time winners, Chennai Super Kings set to lock horns with defending champions Gujarat Titans at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 28.

Since its inception in 2008, the IPL has gotten bigger and better with every season, and so has the prize pot.

According to media reports, the total prize purse for IPL 2023 is INR 46.5 Crores.

The winner of the final will take home INR 20 Crores, while the runners-up will be awarded a whopping sum of INR 13 Crores.

The 3rd placed team, which is the Mumbai Indians in this case, will receive INR 7 Crores while the 4th rank franchise will take home INR 6.5 Crores.

In addition to this, the player who wins the coveted Orange Cup for scoring the most runs will be awarded INR 12 Lakhs. The bowler who wins the Purple Cap for finishing as the leading wicket-taker will also take home INR 12 Lakhs.

The Emerging Player of the Season will take home INR 20 Lakhs, while the 'most valuable player of the season' will be awarded INR 12 Lakhs.

Other individual awards like Power Player of the Season, Game Changer of the Season and Super Striker of the Season- come with a cash prize between INR 12-15 Lakhs.

For the uninitiated, the IPL cash prize money has grown many folds over the course of the last 15 years. While the winner used to take home INR 4.8 Crore in 2008, the prize was increased to INR 10 Crore between 2010-13.

It was further increased to INR 15 Crores in 2015 before being further revised to INR 20 Crores. The BCCI cut down the cash prize in 2020 as part of the cost-cutting measure, but it was restored to INR 20 Crores an year later.
