In encouraging news for Team India, all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who faced an injury scare on Saturday, has been declared fit.

Thakur, during an optional training session at Centurion last evening, suffered a blow to his left shoulder, which was later seen all strapped up with an ice pack. India will travel to Cape Town today (December 31), which will play host to the second and final Test that gets underway on January 3, having lost the first encounter by an innings and 32 runs against hosts South Africa.

As reported by Cricbuzz, a source within the touring Team India informed that Thakur is perfectly fine, and did not undergo any treatment or scans upon the medical team's advice.

Here's what BCCI source said

"There is no concern at all. No problems."

The said injury occurred when Thakur was doing his batting practice while facing throwdowns.

Moreover, the optional training session was attended by skipper Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and KS Bharat with the support staff overseeing the session.

It is expected that India might rope in Ravindra Jadeja and either Avesh Khan or Kumar in the playing XI for the must-win encounter.

Thakur and debutant Krishna were criticised for their lacklustre bowling in the Centurion Test, where they displayed a lack of discipline, and leaked runs on both sides of the wicket.
