As there is still yet to be confirmation whether Pakistan will solely host the Champions Trophy 2025 yet, Richard Gould, the Chief Executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), came up with an interesting idea on Saturday.

In a recent interview with BBC, Gould expressed his desire to host an India versus Pakistan Test series in England. As the political scenario between the two countries is not so great, a red-ball series between two of cricket's biggest rivals could bring a lot of excitement among fans, as highlighted by Gould.

"Everybody would love that. I wouldn't say it's [hosting and India v Pakistan Test] impossible. The politics between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board are long known, as are the politics between governments. And I find that fascinating," Gould told BBC.

Further, Gould mentioned that he got the idea in their recent ICC board meeting, and there, he saw an opportunity to bring this into the table, with iconic venues Lord's, The Oval

"We were in Sri Lanka over the weekend for ICC meetings, and you see Pakistan cricket supporters and India cricket supporters getting on so well, but as soon as the political element is put in, it creates issues," he added.

ECB Assures England's Champions Trophy Participations

To conclude, ECB also confirmed that they will fly to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025.

"There's a great deal of determination to make sure it [Champions Trophy] is [hosted in Pakistan next year]. Particularly from the PCB and the ECB," he concluded.

England are currently in action against the West Indies in a three-match Test series at home.
