ICC backs Zimbabwe to host successful T20 World Cup Qualifiers

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B is scheduled to commence on July 11 and will run until July 17. The tournament will mark the final stage of the qualification process for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

The matches will be held in Zimbabwe across two venues, Bulawayo's Queens Sports Club and Bulawayo Athletic Club.

Quite recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) head of events, Chris Tetley, backed Zimbabwe to host the event successfully.

He said: "We are very excited for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier B to begin. This is the final step in the qualification pathway for the remaining two World Cup spots and we are looking forward to competitive and hard-fought cricket, with a chance for all teams to compete for the ultimate prize in T20 cricket up for grabs."

"Fans will be able to cheer on all teams and follow the action by tuning in to ICC.tv or FanCode to find out who will secure their spots in the World Cup. We are delighted to be working with Zimbabwe Cricket again and wish all the participating teams the very best of luck in their quest to reach the Men's T20 World Cup 2022," Tetley added.

The eight nations participating in the week-long event are placed across two Groups of four teams. Hosts Zimbabwe are placed in Group A alongside Jersey, Singapore and the United States.

Group B comprises of Hong Kong, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea and Uganda.

The two teams that will reach the tournament final will earn an entry to the Men's T20 World Cup in Australia, scheduled to be played between October and November this year.
