'It was a nice moment for me': Roman Walker on dismissing Virat Kohli

Leicestershire's young sensation Roman Walker wreaked havoc in the Indian camp as he dismantled the Indian batting lineup in their first innings in the ongoing 4-day warm-up match between the two sides in Leicester.

The 21-year-old seamer's bowling skills were highly applauded as he dismissed five Indian batters, including the two stalwarts, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

In his reaction, Walker termed it a nice experience to be successful against a star-studded Indian batting lineup. Although he was surprised at picking five out of the eight Indian wickets, he admitted to being overjoyed upon dismissing the legendary Virat Kohli.

As revealed by Walker, some of his teammates congratulated him for getting the better of Kohli and even texted him to save this remarkable feat in his memory to boast about it before his grandchildren in future.

"It was nice. You want to play against India when they come along. Surprised to take 5. It (Virat Kohli's wicket) was a nice moment for me. A couple of my mates texted me saying there's one for the grandkids", Walker said.

Walker also lauded the two Indian pacemen, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, who are representing Leicestershire in the warm-up game, for their constant advice and feedback.

"Yeah, they are great blokes. I mean, they talked to me almost every ball whenever there was room for a bit of advice", Walker said. "They have been really good with everybody, to be fair", he further added.

Apart from his bowling, Walker showed glimpses of his fantastic batting abilities as he played a handy knock of 34 runs with the help of seven boundaries. His vital partnership of 70 runs with Rishabh Pant helped Leicestershire immensely in reaching 244 runs in their first innings.

Terming his batting experience with Pant as a great one, Walker stressed that he got some valuable lessons from the Indian keeper-batter regarding the various ways of dealing effectively with the challenges posed by different bowlers.

"It was great, he (Pant) has been great with our boys. He is great fun to bat with. He smiles whenever he plays a rogue shot. If he gets away with it, he laughs, if he doesn't, he laughs. It's a great thing to learn from the other end. Just talking to him about options, how to play different bowlers, very valuable," the Wrexham-born concluded.
