Ranji Trophy 2022 | Rajat Patidar's ton puts Madhya Pradesh at driving seat

Gaining some limelight after scoring 112 in just 54 balls in the IPL 2022 eliminator, the Royal Challenger Bangalore batter helped his team progress to the qualifier 2.

Continuing his form in the Ranji Trophy, Patidar has played a crucial role for his team. Representing Madhya Pradesh, Patidar is second on the run-scorers list, scoring 600 plus runs at an average of 89 in 6 matches.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy final, Rajat Patidar scored a ton which helped Madhya Pradesh to go past Mumbai’s first innings total in the morning session today.

Patidar got a lifeline when he was batting under fifty as he was caught off at a no-ball. Since then, even though he kept losing partners on the other end, Patidar has been playing a lavish knock punishing the Mumbai bowlers and adding runs to the scoreboard.

Patidar began day four at a score of 67 and gradually started scoring runs at a pace which helped him score 100 runs in just 163 deliveries.

This is Patidar’s second 100 in the ongoing season and the 8th first-class hundred in 42 matches that he has played. After Yash Dubey [133] and Shubham Sharma [116], Patidar became the third centurion for Madhya Pradesh in the first innings.

Patidar in this season has played some crucial knocks in the knockout matches. 85 against Punjab in the quarter-final and scored 79 runs against West Bengal in the semi-final. Now his century in the final has helped Madhya Pradesh to firmly control the game as now Madhya Pradesh has a lead of more than 100 runs and is certainly in the position to grab their first Ranji Title.
