In a significant development, England star batter Harry Brook has gone past Joe Root to become the new number one ranked Test batter in ICC rankings. This comes days after the English star slammed a century in the second Test against India at Edgbaston.
Brook now has Test rating of 886, while Joe Root has slipped to second with 868 rating. On the other hand, Shubman Gill too had a week to remember as the India captain has jumped to the sixth spot, following a double hundred and a century at Edgbaston.
Harry Brook Takes The India Series By Storm
Brook is having a great time playing against India as the right-handed batter amassed 158 (234) in the 2nd Test and nearly scored a ton in the opening match as he fell for 99 runs, one short of a century.
Other than Brook, Jamie Smith also was rewarded for his blistering knock at Edgbaston and the young keeper-batter has jumped 16 spots to now rank 10th on the list.
Three Indians In Top 10
India had a great week as the Shubman Gill-led side registered their first-ever win at Edgbaston. The skipper led from front as he became the second-ever Indian after Sunil Gavaskar to score a double hundred and a century in the same Test to jump 15 spots and now sit on the 6th position.
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to be India's best ranked Test batter as he is placed fourth on the rankings. Spidey Rishabh Pant is joint-seventh on the list.
Delight For Wiaan Mulder
It was a week that celebrated Test cricket across the globe as Wiaan Mulder also had a match to remember against Zimbabwe. The South Africa star batter sacrificed a 400, but it helped him jump 34 spots in the batting ranking and is now ranked 22nd on the rankings.
Further, Mulder is also now ranked 3rd on the Test all-rounder rankings. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja continues to take the top spot.
