The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled England’s squads for the upcoming white-ball series against South Africa at home and against Ireland (away). While Harry Brook will be leading the English team in their home ODI and T20I series against the Proteas, Jacob Bethell will take over the leadership role for the short Ireland tour next month in September.
In terms of white-ball fixtures, England recently hosted West Indies in a three-match ODI and T20I series, winning both rubbers by emphatic 3-0 margins in June.
Harry Brook To Be Rested For Ireland ODIs
On Friday, August 15; the ECB named England’s three separate squads, two for the upcoming home ODI and T20I series against South Africa and the other for a three-match 50-overs international trip to Ireland.

Harry Brook will continue to lead the Englishmen in both home series against South Africa after having guided his team to twin whitewashes against West Indies. He will be accompanied by the likes of Joe Root (only ODIs), Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Ben Duckett, Adil Rashid among others in the team. Harry Brook will be given a rest for England’s three-match ODI tour of Ireland. Fellow senior pros like Jofra Archer and Ben Duckett were also excluded from the squad; while the likes of Jos Buttler and Adil Rashid will start out as some of the seniormost members in their away series against their North Atlantic neighbours.
