In a warm gesture of solidarity, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma and his wife, Manu Verma, honoured the Indian Women's Cricket Team with a dinner reception at the India House in Dhaka on Wednesday.

High Commissioner appreciated and thanked the Indian team

Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian Women’s team is in Bangladesh. The Indian team emerged victorious in the three-match T20I series, taking home a 2-1 victory. Following this, the team managed to level the ODI series at 1-1 on Wednesday after winning a crucial match against the hosts.

Nevertheless, India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh Verma took the opportunity to laud the team's performance, referring to the Women in Blue as an inspiration for young girls and women back in India.

He further expressed gratitude to the Bangladesh Cricket Board for hosting the Indian Women's Cricket Team and thanked the Indian community in Bangladesh for their continued support.

Echoing the sentiment of the entire team and management, the Indian skipper and interim coach Nooshin Al Khadeer reciprocated the appreciation, expressing gratitude towards the High Commissioner for his support and generous hospitality.

Coming to the 2nd ODI, the Women in Blue put in a splendid performance by posting a challenging total of 228 for 8 in their 50 overs. This was due in large part to excellent half-centuries from Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored 86, and Harmanpreet, who made 52.

The Bangladesh Women's Team struggled in their response as their score shrunk to 38/3 within the first 14 overs.

Despite a fighting partnership between Fargana Hoque and captain Nigar Sultana, which added 68 runs, the loss of Hoque in the 29th over marked the beginning of the end for Bangladesh. Their score spiralled down from 106/3 to 120 all out, personifying a dramatic fall from grace.
