India's experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to join the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) to complete his rehabilitation from an injury that he sustained during the Asia Cup. The talismanic Indian cricketer picked up a left quadricep injury during India's Super Four encounter against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup. The injury ruled Pandya out of the Asia Cup final, which India eventually won by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan in a high-voltage clash at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Pandya to join BCCI CoE on Tuesday; likely to make comeback next month

It's important to note that Hardik Pandya will arrive at the BCCI Centre of Excellence on Tuesday to get his injury assessed, reported the Times of India (TOI). A future course of action on his comeback to competitive cricket will be taken only after a thorough assessment of his quadricep injury.

That said, the TOI report also stated that Pandya's injury wouldn't require a surgery to heal and he might need four to six weeks to recover from it. As a result, it's expected that the Baroda all-rounder will be fit to play cricket by next month.

Recently, the BCCI unveiled India's white-ball squads for the Australia tour; however, Pandya missed out on selection due to the injury setback. While his absence is definitely a blow to the Indian team, it has also opened the doors for young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy to showcase his mettle in white-ball cricket.

Talking about Pandya's Asia Cup performance, the 32-year-old was instrumental in India's win over Bangladesh, scoring a quick-fire 38-run knock. However, barring that one performance, Pandya blew hot and cold in the competition with bat and ball.

The Indian players will depart for Australia on Wednesday for the upcoming white-ball series against the host nation. While Virat Kohli has already arrived in Delhi, Rohit Sharma and other key members of the team will likely join him later.
