Glenn Maxwell will now lead the Washington Freedom team in the upcoming 2025 season of Major League Cricket (MLC). Last year, it was Steve Smith who captained the team and led them to win the championship. However, Smith won’t be available for most of the matches this season due to his national team duties with Australia.

So, the team has chosen Maxwell as the new captain. Notably, the announcement comes days after Maxwell's retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs).
