Pakistan took on the UAE in the second match of the tri-series on Saturday, and while the Men in Green had a stellar outing and won the game comfortably, star batter Mohammad Haris had an off-day as he got dismissed for just 1 run. He played a reckless shot and the catch went safely into the hands of the deep third man fielder.
This incident left Haris disappointed as he looked furious and decided to unleash his anger on his bat. In the heat of the moment, Haris broke his bat and walked to the pavilion in fury. This incident went viral as some fans sympathized with him, while others called it an overreaction by the Pakistan star.
The batter came into bat at number seven, and had the responsibility to finish off the innings, instead, he failed to deliver the goods and left the ground in deep anger.
Haris getting criticised by Pakistan fans
Not for the bat-breaking incident, but Haris has received flak for the negative comments he made about Babar Azam before the start of the tri-series. One of the reporters asked the Pakistan batter about his views on Babar getting dropped from the T20Is, and Haris took a sly dig at his former captain.
"No doubt, Babar and Rizwan have delivered many performances for Pakistan, but when you want to set a benchmark, you need to give chances to the juniors. Babar Azam needs to play fast in T20."
The comments didn't go well with Pakistan fans, as they criticised Haris, and some of the former cricketers also lambasted him for his unnecessary dig towards Babar. Moreover, his string of low scores in recent matches has not helped his cause as the batter is yet to deliver the goods despite consistent backing.
