The first edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL 2024) with the East Delhi Riders crowned their maiden champions. The tournament saw the rise of new talents who might one day be an integral part of the Indian team. 

One such talent is Priyansh Arya. He became the talk of the town with his six sixes feat in the 23rd match of the tournament against the North Delhi Strikers. Opening the innings for his team, Arya played a mesmerizing knock of 120 runs off 50 deliveries. 

Priyansh Arya shattered many records along with Ayush Badoni

Besides the six sixes he hit against Manan Bharadwaj, Arya also shattered many records during his time in the middle. He was involved in a record-breaking partnership with the skipper of the South Delhi Superstarz, Ayush Badoni (165 off 55). The duo stitched together 286 runs off just 100 deliveries, bolstering their team's total to a gigantic 308/5 in 20 overs. In reply, North Delhi could manage 196/8 in their 20 overs and lost the match by a massive margin of 112 runs. 

Yuvraj Singh Shares a special message for Arya

Priyansh Arya's six sixes in an over caught the eye of the cricketing fraternity. It did not escape the eyes of the man who pioneered this in T20 cricket, Yuvraj Singh. Recently, the Delhi Premier League shared a video on their X (formerly Twitter) handle, in which Yuvraj is seen wishing luck to Priyansh. 

Yuvraj Singh was the pioneer of six sixes in T20s

Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in an over during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. This feat of the southpaw came against Stuart Broad. Yuvraj played a blazing knock of 58 from 16 deliveries in the game, taking the team's total to a formidable 218/6 in 20 overs. India managed to restrict England to 200/6 and win the game by 18 runs. 

Priyansh Arya's performance in DPL 2024

Speaking of Priyansh Arya, he had a stellar DPL 2024. In 10 matches, the young southpaw scored 608 runs at an average of 67.56 while scoring runs at a strike rate of 198.69. He finished the tournament as the highest run scorer. Unfortunately, his team failed to win the final against East Delhi and finished as the runners-up. Priyansh did not have a good outing in the summit clash, where he scored only 6 off 2 balls, which might have been a major cause of his team's inability to lift the trophy.
