The ILT20 2025 final between the Desert Vipers and Dubai Capitals wasn’t just about Sikandar Raza’s last-over heroics or Dubai’s maiden title win, it also sparked a spicy chapter of rivalry, banter, and clapbacks that has cricket fans buzzing.

Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi has now thrown fuel on the fire, posting a cheeky collage on his social media handle to mock Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir and Sam Curran while celebrating Gulbadin Naib and his Dubai Capitals teammates.

The Match That Started It All!

In a nail-biting showdown on Sunday, February 9, the Desert Vipers set a competitive 189-run target, but Dubai Capitals’ Sikandar Raza stole the show with a jaw-dropping 12-ball 34, including a 15-run thrashing of Amir in the penultimate over. The Pakistani left-armer, known for his death-bowling prowess, uncharacteristically lost his cool as Raza dismantled his plans, sealing a historic win for the Capitals.

But the real drama began earlier when Amir dismissed Gulbadin Naib with a vicious delivery. The Pakistani seamer then mimicked Naib’s signature bicep-flex celebration, a move that visibly irked the Afghan all-rounder. Naib, however, had the last laugh as his team lifted the trophy, while Amir’s Vipers fell short.

Post-match, Naib didn’t hold back, calling out Amir’s antics. “Cricket is a gentleman’s game. If you don’t show respect, no one will respect you either,” he stated, adding that Amir’s actions reflected poorly on his own reputation. Naib’s jubilant celebrations after Raza’s winning shot only underscored the emotional stakes.

Farooqi’s Viral Twitter Roast

Enter Fazalhaq Farooqi. The Afghan speedster took to Twitter to amplify the feud, sharing a split-image collage. On one side, Mohammad Amir and Sam Curran is seen mockingly flexing his biceps Naib, on the other, Naib posed with the ILT20 trophy. The caption? A simple yet savage congratulatory message to his Afghan brothers, letting the visuals do the talking.

The image not only highlighted Amir’s on-field taunt but juxtaposed it with Naib’s ultimate triumph, a classic case of “scoreboard pressure” meeting social media savagery. Meanwhile, Farooqi who also had a stellar ILT20 season played for the MI Emirates who were knocked out in the Qualifier 1 against the Sharjah Warriorz.

Farooqi's ILT20 Campaign

Fazalhaq Farooqi has been a standout performer in the ILT20, showcasing impressive bowling skills. In 11 matches, he has taken 21 wickets, maintaining an economy rate of 7.57. He was crucial with the ball as he had a strike rate of 11.00 and had best figures of 5-16 in the tournament.
