One of the finest players to ever come out of Saurashtra, Sheldon Jackson, has been one of the most prolific run-getters in domestic cricket. Having already retired from white-ball cricket previously, Jackson has now announced his retirement from first-class cricket after playing his final match against Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy Quarter-Finals.

Jackson, A Prolific Run-Getter

The 38-year-old Sheldon Jackson, born in Bhavnagar, was also a wicketkeeper while being one of the finest players in the Ranji Trophy. The right-hander, whose career began in 2011, played his last match in the ongoing Ranji Trophy quarter-finals. Jackson, in his overall first-class career, has featured in 106 domestic red-ball matches and has amassed 7,283 runs, averaging 45.80 in his overall career.

His strike rate of 60.71 has been decent, where he has thwacked 21 centuries to go along with 39 half-centuries in First-class cricket. An average of 45 is a testament to Jackson's consistency in domestic cricket, as he has long been a great servant of his side, Saurashtra, as he ended his domestic career after playing knocks of 14 and 27 in the match against Gujarat.

To the unversed, Jackson was also part of the Kolkata Knight Riders side during the 2017 and 2022 editions, where he featured in a total of 9 matches.

The right-hander had a breakthrough season in the 2012-2013 Ranji Trophy when he smashed four half-centuries and two centuries, which included consecutive tons in the quarter-finals and semifinals against the strong Karnataka and Punjab sides, respectively, as Saurashtra made it to the grand finale of the prestigious tournament for the very first time.

Sheldon Jackson Retired From White-Ball Cricket In December

He announced his retirement from white-ball cricket after playing his final Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Punjab on December 31st, 2024, where he managed 13 runs. Additionally, he has 2,792 runs in his List A career while having 1,812 runs in his overall T20 career.

One of his best knocks of 133 not out came in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2022, helping his side lift the title. Sheldon finished his career with 9 centuries and 14 half-centuries in 50-over cricket.
