South Africa qualified for the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup, beating West Indies by 3-wickets in a rain affected game. The Proteas nearly choked before Marco Jansen slammed an iconic six to get his team through.

South Africa has a love-hate relationship with rain interruptions. Historically, adverse weather conditions have plagued the Proteas' ICC tournaments multiple times.

However, this year, history didn't repeat itself. With 136 runs on board to chase against West Indies in the T20 World Cup's Super 8 round, the Proteas lost early wickets before rain played spoilsport.

After a brief delay, South Africa's target was reduced to 123 runs as per the DLS method. However, Aiden Markam-led South Africa, once again, choked under pressure and lost wickets at regular intervals.

Heinrich Klaasen's wicket in the eighth over changed the course of the game in West Indies's favour.

However, Marco Jansen kept his calm and slammed a six with five needed off the final over to steer his team through the semi-finals.

South Africa extended their unbeaten streak to seven games as they take a step closer to the ultimate dream.

That being said, the West Indies-South Africa virtual knockout had a dramatic finish, and with the Proteas emerging as winners against the odds, fans on the internet hailed Markram's side for shrugging off the chokers tag as well as the rain curse.

Aiden Markram's captaincy was also applauded as South Africa continued their dominance in the tournament.

Now, South Africa will likely meet either Australia or Afghanistan from Group 1 in the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
