It is a special moment for the Engineer as the 87-year-old featured for Lancashire from 1968-76. The former Indian batter made his India debut in 1961 and enjoyed a 14-year-long career.

Overall, 16 Indians have stand named after them in India, which includes the likes of Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and several other legends of Indian cricket.

Why Are Lancashire Honouring an Engineer With A Stand Named After Him?

In 1968,  ECB allowed County cricket to have overseas cricketers and Clive Lloyd, Farokh Engineer were one of the first signings. He spent nine seasons there, until he retired in 1976. Notably, Lancashire had not won a major honour since 1950, but, courtesy of Lloyd and Engineer's impact, they won the Gillette Cup four times and the John Player League twice.
