Fakhar Zaman's Injury Update
At the time of writing, the explosive opener was out of the ground. According to ESPN Cricinfo, Fakhar Zaman underwent a muscular sprain assessment after he walked off the field for the second time in the game.
"Fakhar Zaman is being assessed and examined for a muscular sprain and further updates will be provided in due course," the PCB stated.
Will Fakhar Zaman Be Ruled Out Of Champions Trophy?
Although the PCB has yet to break silence on Fakhar's availability for this match as well as the entire tournament, a reliable Pakistani journalist claimed that the veteran opener could be ruled out of the opening game against New Zealand.
It's worth mentioning that mild muscular sprains might take one or two weeks to heal, while a person can take up to eight to ten weeks if he is diagnosed with a more severe injury of this category.
Fakhar Zaman has been an integral member of Pakistan's white-ball side. The opener recently made his much-awaited ODI comeback, playing some scintillating knocks in the ODI Tri-Series. So, if he misses some part of the Champions Trophy, it will be a huge setback for the hosts, who aim to defend their title.
Update: Fakhar Zaman returned to the ground after getting his knee treated. However, he won't open the batting as he was out of the ground for a long period of time.
