The wait is finally over; Pakistan is playing against New Zealand in the first match of the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 at National Bank Stadium, Karachi. Earlier in the match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first, and this decision paid off as Pakistan bowler Abrar Ahmed took the wicket of Devon Conway with a peach delivery in the 8th over of the first innings.

After the first wicket, Pakistan’s pace sensation Naseem Shah delivered a moment of pure excitement as he took a crucial wicket of Kane Williamson in the 9th over. Naseem bowled a brilliant back-of-a-length delivery that drew a faint outside edge off Kane Williamson, the Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan made a superb low-diving catch, sending the Black Caps star player packing for a low score.
With the early breakthrough, Naseem was visibly elated, in a moment of pure nostalgia Naseem recreated the iconic fighter jet celebration that Shoaib Akhtar made famous. With his arms spread wide, Naseem sprinted in a triumphant, jet-like fashion, instantly becoming a crowd favourite.
Pakistan’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss appeared to be a masterstroke as the young pacer continued to shine with both skill and passion. As the match progresses, Pakistan are at 50 runs at the loss of two wickets, with Will Young and Daryl Mitchell present at the crease. Pakistan will want to continue its dominance with early impact, and New Zealand will want his middle-order to bounce back to stabilise the innings.
