Pakistan's swashbuckling opener Fakhar Zaman gave the fans a massive injury scare as he hurt his knee while trying to save a boundary for his team. The incident marked an unfortunate start to the marquee event for Pakistan.
Fakhar Zaman Gives Injury Scare To Pakistan
The incident occurred in the very first over of the innings after Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to bowl first. As expected, ace speedster Shaheen Afridi opened the bowling for Pakistan in the high-octane face-off.
After starting his over with a dot ball, Afridi bowled a full-length delivery which Will Young firmly drove through the extra cover. As the ball raced towards fence, Fakhar ran from mid off, eventually stopping an evident boundary and saving a run for his side.
However, he hurt his right knee in this process and remained in the sidelines for quite a while. He was instantly attended by the team physio before standing up and walking off the field. Top-order batter Kamran Ghulam came in as his substitute on the field.
