The Pakistan Cricket Board is all set to make some big changes in the contracted players list for the 2025-26 season. According to a report from Geo Super, the biggest shuffling will be in category D.
The players are given contracts in Pakistan in four different categories. Category A players are the highest paid, while the salary decreases from B to D. The Geo Super report has now stated that the discussions for the new contracts are in the final stage, and the final list will be announced soon.
Comeback Stars Likely To Get Rewarded In New Contract List
The biggest development is that the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, and Faheem Ashraf are likely to get back their central contract. These players have made successful comebacks in the last year or so, and they would replace players who are currently not playing for Pakistan in any format.
Youngsters like Hasan Nawaz, Sufiyan Muqueem and Mohammad Haris are also likely to bag a contract, while the likes of Usman Khan and Haseebullah are likely to face the axe. Out-of-favour all-rounder Aamer Jamal is also likely to lose his contract, along with Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Huraira, who are all currently contracted as D category players.
Doubts Remain Over Babar, Rizwan As Khushdil , Sahibzada Likely To Get A Nod
Khushdil Shah, who has done well since his comeback in the Champions Trophy 2025, is also likely to be rewarded with the contract. Along with him, the likes of Sahibzada Farhan and Hussain Talat, who did well on the Caribbean tour, could also make the cut.
However, there is no clarity on who the Category A players would be in the upcoming contract list. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were the only two players in the A category last time around, but neither is playing T20Is for Pakistan currently, and could face demotion.
