Under head coach Gautam Gambhir, every member of the Indian cricket team has to go through the Yo-Yo test, which was first introduced during Virat Kohli’s captaincy tenure. It is a multi-stage fitness test that measures an athlete’s endurance and fitness levels, and the BCCI decided to bring it back under Gambhir’s watchful eyes.
Almost all the Indian players, barring Virat Kohli reached the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru and gave their fitness test. India’s ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, was under the microscope as social media circulated rumours that the Mumbaikar had passed his fitness test with a score of 19.4. But did the legendary batter really breach the 19-point mark and surpass Kohli’s Yo-Yo score?.
Did Rohit Sharma really breached the 19 point mark in Yo-Yo test?
After careful consideration, it was observed that all the rumours of Rohit Sharma breaching the 19-point mark are false, as the BCCI has strict policies and the cricketers are not allowed to reveal their scores anywhere. As a matter of fact, even the governing body (BCCI) does not disclose the scores to anyone.
If anyone reveals their Yo-Yo test score, the player gets penalised, or worse, even gets removed from the squad.
Rohit, and other reportedly clear their fitness test
It is not allowed to disclose the final Yo-Yo test score, but according to reports from Abhishek Tripathi of Dainik Jagran, almost all the Indian cricketers, including Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, and others, have either fully or partially cleared the fitness test.
While all the Indian players completed their tests in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli, the legendary batter, had his tests conducted in London, where he is staying with his family members, and reportedly, even he has cleared it.
