In a recent development, it has been reported that several key Indian stars have passed their fitness tests ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. The likes of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and other big players have all passed the test, which comes as a sigh of relief.

Big names who have cleared fitness tests

Other big names who have either fully or partially cleared the test are: Mohammed Siraj, Jitesh Sharma, Ruturaj, Prasidh, Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Rajat Patidar, Ravi Bishnoi, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakaravarthy, Mukesh Kumar, Sarfaraz Khan, Tilak Varma, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Dhruv Jurel, Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar.

As per a report by Abhishek Tripathi (Dainik Jagran), players’ recovery patterns were tested, and strength tests were done, which was cleared by most of the players.

Why these Tests were conduced before the Asia Cup?

The Yo-YO, and other fitness Tests were done to assess the players' fitness levels before the Asia Cup tournament and the gruelling home season. The Yo-Yo tests were popular during Virat Kohli's captaincy days, and it has now been implemented once again to keep the Indian cricketers on their toes, and to keep them fit for every game. Before the Asia Cup, the BCCI physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach submitted the test reports to the board.

Virat Kohli takes fitness test in London

The BCCI made a special exception for senior batter, Virat Kohli, to take his fitness test in London, even though the rest of the squad gave their fitness clearance at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE).

Kohli, who is currently in England with his family, was permitted to complete his fitness test under supervision in London, a decision which raised eyebrows since the BCCI is strict with its protocols.
